How to get to Wind Caves Trail?
Starting from Ocotillo on Route 78, head south on Split Mountain Road for 8 miles until the pavement ends. Turn right onto the rough, dry wash road and continue for 1.4 miles to reach Fish Creek Primitive Campground, which marks the beginning of Split Mountain Gorge. Drive an additional 2.7 miles to reach the Wind Caves Trailhead. High Clearance/4×4 vehicles suggested.
Please be aware that the dry wash road is a four-wheel-drive road and caution is advised. Flash floods and falling rocks may pose dangers on the road, so please drive with caution and always be aware of your surroundings. Here are pictures of the road leading to the Wind Caves.
