On Sunday, December 15, 2024, St. Barnabas Episcopal Church hosted its annual holiday tradition, A Charlie Brown Christmas. Local keyboard artist and entertainer Steve T Hunter once again brought the Vince Guaraldi score to life, weaving music and storytelling to celebrate this cherished holiday classic.
“Isn’t there anyone who knows what Christmas is all about?”
In A Charlie Brown Christmas, Linus steps forward to answer Charlie Brown's question, delivering a timeless explanation of the true meaning of Christmas, from the
Gospel of Luke.
Rev. Dr. David L. Madsen, Lead Pastor of St. Barnabas, welcomed the community, setting the tone for an afternoon of music, nostalgia, and holiday spirit. Steve performed the beloved soundtrack with heartfelt precision, sharing fun and little-known facts about the creation of the original CBS-TV special between songs.
One of the most memorable moments came when Steve paused to pose the question, "Isn't There Anyone Who Knows What Christmas Is All About?" This led Fr. Michael Plekon to share a touching reflection on the meaning of the holiday. The audience then joined in to sing a classic Christmas carol together, filling the church with warmth and joy.
As an annual tradition, A Charlie Brown Christmas continues to be a highlight of the holiday season in Borrego Springs. The event brings the community together to celebrate the spirit of Christmas through music, storytelling, and shared experiences.
If you missed it this year, mark your calendar for next December—this is a tradition you won’t want to miss!
