EV charging in Borrego Springs

A Remote Desert Community with Limited Charging Options

Borrego Springs, nestled within the expansive Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, offers a tranquil escape into nature. The stunning landscapes and clear night skies make it an ideal destination for nature lovers. However, if you're planning to visit in an electric vehicle (EV), you'll need to carefully plan due to the limited charging infrastructure.

EV Charging Locations in Borrego Springs

There are a few key places where you can charge your EV:

  • Borrego Springs Chamber of Commerce: This location provides Level 2 charging via the ev Gateway network, centrally located for easy access while you explore the area.

  • Borrego Springs Library: Another spot with Level 2 ChargePoint chargers. While charging, you can visit the library, known for its sustainable design and community activities.

No Fast Charging Options

It's important to note that Borrego Springs does not have Tesla Superchargers or other Level 3 fast chargers. Charging your EV will take longer here, so it’s crucial to arrive with a full battery and plan your charging stops accordingly.

EV Charging at Local Accommodations

If you’re staying overnight, consider accommodations that offer EV charging:

  • La Casa del Zorro: This resort provides EV charging stations, allowing you to recharge your vehicle while enjoying the amenities.

  • The Springs at Borrego RV Resort: Known for its luxurious amenities, this resort also offers EV charging for guests staying in the RV park or casitas.

  • Palm Canyon Hotel & RV Resort: Whether you’re in the hotel or the RV park, this resort provides EV charging stations to ensure your vehicle is ready for the next day’s adventures.

Be Prepared for the Unexpected

Due to Borrego Springs' remote location, towing services in the area are limited and typically rely on drivers from nearby communities. This means that if your vehicle needs assistance, you could face a significant wait time. To avoid this, it’s essential not to push your vehicle’s range to the limit while exploring the desert.

Plan Ahead for a Smooth Visit

By planning ahead and staying at accommodations with EV charging, you can enjoy all that Borrego Springs has to offer without worrying about your vehicle’s power. Keep your battery topped off, be mindful of the limited services in the area, and enjoy your journey through this unique desert landscape.

Every spring, the calendar of the Christian churches comes round to the Forty Days of Lent, a time of self examination and reflection, very much like the season of Ramadan in Islam. These weeks culminate in Holy Weeks, the time from Palm Sunday, this year April 13, till Easter Sunday, April 20. Easter, coming from an Old English word for spring, is the celebration of Jesus being raised from death. But the Resurrection is preceded by several other special days. Called Maundy Thursday from the Latin mandatum or commandment, Thursday in Holy Week commemorates the last supper Jesus had with his disciples. At this meal he gave them bread and wine to share, this becoming the central sacrament of the church, holy communion or the Eucharist. Thursday also recalls Jesus' washing the feet of his friends as an act of love, a commandment he urged them to continue--their love for each other and all the world. Good Friday seems wrongly named for it is the day of Jesus' death on the cross. Yet this self giving is for Christians the ultimate sign of God's love for all humankind and the world. On the next day, Holy Saturday, towards evening, a vigil service of readings, the proclamation of the resurrection and holy communion begin the Easter celebration. Finally on Easter Sunday services of song, prayer, readings and communion feast the rising of the Lord from death, a promise to all of new life with God and each other forever.
